In this sermon, Dr. Stanley leads us through two familiar encounters in Jesus’ life and ministry. In one, a blind beggar acknowledged his helpless state, called out to the Lord, and received physical and spiritual healing. In another, a man rich in wealth finally grasped the poverty of his spirit, and the value of communing with Jesus.

Both men overcame challenges common to us today—we don’t always see ourselves or others the way Jesus does, and we don’t necessarily place value where He does either. Assessing our own spiritual condition does not come easily, and recognizing how our viewpoint differs from God’s is an important part of the process.

But when you encounter Jesus personally, your life is changed as radically as those of the blind man and the rich man in these stories. In Him, you will find the spiritual ability to look at things as He does, including your own spiritual state—and that of those around you, who are loved but lost.
