There is a thoughtful question we learned from Shakespeare: “What’s in a name?” You may have been named according to family tradition, to commemorate someone, or because something sounded good to your parent’s ear. In ancient Israel, names might communicate tribal ties, occupations, or prophetic purpose. Likewise, every name for God as given in Scripture is full of rich and beautiful meaning.
