This chapter uses Babylon as the symbol of the apostate church—the system of false religions that is linked to the Antichrist to give him more authority. This false religion remains after Jesus Christ comes to take all His believers away. The apostate church will rebel against God, worship false gods, have enormous wealth, and bow down to a corrupt government. Dr. Stanley explains that we are the body of Christ; this is the kingdom of God; and we do not require anything else for support but almighty God Himself.
